AP CM directs officials to coordinate with Centre to fast-track ORR project

Vijayawada, Oct 6 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu said on Tuesday that alongside the construction of the capital, efforts should be made to fast-track the Outer Ring Road project.
He instructed officials to coordinate with the Centre to take the project forward. He said construction agencies should work with a clear plan to ensure that works worth Rs 2,000 crore are executed every month in the capital city of Amaravati.
Reviewing Amaravati capital works with officials and representatives of contracting agencies at the camp office on Tuesday, the Chief Minister directed that all capital works be completed rapidly and with high quality, leaving no scope for negligence or laxity.
Naidu made it clear that there should be no delays in the construction of iconic buildings, adding that the Secretariat towers and the Assembly building should have an iconic character and reflect the stature of Amaravati as the State capital.
Municipal Administration Minister P Narayana explained to the Chief Minister that 41,000 workers were currently engaged in 152 projects being taken up in the capital region. The officials also briefed the Chief Minister on the progress and status of various projects. They said works worth Rs 1,345 crore had been completed during the past month.
The Chief Minister stressed the need to provide modern skills to personnel in the construction sector, on the lines of the National Academy of Construction, to meet the requirements of large-scale capital development.
