AP CM gives consent to fill 137 posts in Endowments Department

Vijayawada, May 6 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Tuesday gave his consent to fill the posts in the Endowments Department that have been lying vacant since long.

The Chief Minister directed the officials to fill the 137 posts, including six deputy commissioners, five assistant commissioners, six Grade-1 executive officers, 104 grade-3 executive officers and 16 junior assistants in five wings through direct recruitment.
He made it clear that these posts should be filled very soon so that the temples are managed in an efficient manner.

During a review meeting held at the State Secretariat at Amaravati near here on Endowments Department, Naidu also said that the Videki staff members posts too should be filled soon with the eligible persons.
He also directed the officials to implement the Anna Danam scheme for the pilgrims in all the temples in the state as this is presently available only at seven temples in Srisailam, Sri Kalahasti, Kanipakam, Bezawada Durgamma, Annavaram, Dwaraka Tirumala and Simhachalam.

'Anna Prasadam' should be served in a way that ensures taste, quality and cleanliness of the food giving the devotees a sense of purity for which the services who come forward voluntarily should be utilised, the Chief Minister said.

"Steps should be taken to ensure that funds can be provided from the seven main temples for temples whose income is not sufficient for the Anna Prasad programme," he said and added that the quality of 'Anna Prasadam' should be maintained on the lines of Goddess Vengamamba temple in Tirumala.

Asking the officials to formulate plans to develop all the temples in the state in a phased manner, Naidu said in the first phase master plans, in accordance with the Agama Sastras, should be formulated with regard to 23 temples. They should be growth engines to temple tourism, he said.
A committee should be formed to bring in a comprehensive policy to ensure that temple lands are not encroached upon and that assets are protected. Also, these lands can be leased out to commercial entities, the CM added.

Form a Balaji Temple Building Fund and with the funds thus gathered one temple each should be constructed in all the Assembly segments, he maintained.
By simply building the temples their management should not be neglected, Naidu said. Temple committees should be formed to ensure that Dhupa-Deepa-Nivedyasms (offerings of incense and lamps) are received regularly.

On top of it all, stringent actions should be taken against those who resort to attacks on temples, Chandrababu said, adding that CC cameras should be installed at 24,538 temples which are notified under 6C category as such CC camera systems are currently available only at temples which have over Rs 50,000 revenue.

The officers informed the Chief Minister that steps are taken to develop greenery on the precincts of all the temples while 19,000 saplings have already been planted on the precincts of 6A category temples. In coordination with the Forest Department greenery will be developed in all the temple premises, they said.

About Rs 1,300 crore income is coming from all the notified temples in the State of which Rs 850 crore is from the top seven temples, the officers told Naidu. About nine per cent of the income from temples earning more than Rs 5 lakh is being deposited to the Common Good Fund (CGF) through which Rs 159 crore have been deposited during 2024-25.
