AP: Minister assure AP farmers on buying of total paddy

Kakinada, May 4 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Minister for Civil Supplies Nadendla Manohar on Sunday said the state government would stand by the farmers and is ready to purchase the total paddy with them .
He told mediapersons here that the government had already purchased 11 lakh metric tones of paddy more than the previous regime.
In both the rabi and kharif seasons put together the previous government has purchased 37 lakh metric tonnes of paddy. But the present government during the past ten months alone purchased 48 .43 lakh metric tons of paddy, which is 11,000 Metric tones additionally .
Moreover over Rs.11,000 Crores towards the cost of the paddy purchased was directly credited to the bank accounts of the farmers within twenty four hours, he added.
The Minister further said the government was now ready to purchase another 10 lakh Metric tones of paddy from the farmers.
Since there were untimely rains, he said, the government kept ready the required gunny bags for farmers.
Manohar further said that the previous government left without paying Rs.1674 crore arrears due to the farmers which was promptly cleared by the present alliance government. Kakinada MP Thangella Uday Srinivas, Rural MLA Pantham Nanaji, state civil supplies corporation Chairman Thota Sudhir, KUDA chairman Tummala Ramaswamy were among those attended.
