AP TDP State President proposes 800-acre IT hub at Yarada

Visakhapatnam, Oct 3 (UNI) Telugu Desam Party State President and MLA Palla Srinivasa Rao has focused on developing Gajuwaka as a key centre for the IT, industrial and tourism sectors.
As part of the initiative, Srinivasa Rao, along with the District Collector, RDO and Tahsildar, conducted a field-level inspection on Saturday of nearly 800 acres at Yarada hill region to explore its potential for IT, knowledge- and technology-driven industries and tourism development.
Srinivasa Rao reviewed the extent and status of the land, existing infrastructure and development potential of the hill region. He directed officials to examine the feasibility of developing the serene and scenic location as a hub for IT companies, Global Capability Centres (GCCs), startups and other knowledge- and technology-driven enterprises. He said the expansion of the IT sector in the area could generate substantial employment and livelihood opportunities for local youth.
Srinivasa Rao said a bridge connecting Sagar Durga Temple at Yarada, across the canal, towards Sri Venkateswara Swamy Temple in the One Town area would significantly improve connectivity to Yarada.
He said the proposed bridge could enable people to reach the main city from Yarada within 15–20 minutes, besides providing better transport connectivity for IT professionals and local residents. Improved connectivity, he said, would provide further impetus not only to IT and industrial development in Yarada but also to beach and spiritual tourism in the region.
The TDP State Chief said under the leadership of Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu, the government was working to position Andhra Pradesh as an investment- industry- and technology-friendly destination.
In line with the efforts of IT Minister Nara Lokesh to attract investments in the IT, electronics and technology sectors, the available opportunities in Gajuwaka should be effectively leveraged, he said.
The development of an IT hub at Yarada would provide further impetus to Visakhapatnam’s economic growth and create new employment opportunities for local youth, Rao said.
He directed officials to prepare the necessary proposals for the government after undertaking a comprehensive assessment of the infrastructure, connectivity and other requirements for the integrated development of the IT and tourism sectors.
The objective should be to effectively harness Yarada’s vast potential and facilitate planned development that would benefit the local economy, youth and tourism sector, he added.
