AP: Two get life imprisonment for raping elderly woman

Rayachoti, June 16 (UNI) Two people were sentenced to life imprisonment for raping a septagenerian woman in Annamayya district three years ago.
The seventh additional Judge G S Ramesh Kumar sentenced the two accused to life imprisonment for raping a woman on July nine, 2022.

Police said that when the 75-year-old victim was asleep in front of her house, at Pedinenikaluva village of T Sundupalli mandal in Annamayya district, the accused, Desuri Naveen Kumar and Kovvori Narasimhulu, went to her house after midnight of July seven, 2022. They asked for water, but she refused to give them water.

One of the accused Narasimhulu muzzled her mouth with his hand. Both the accused carried her to a desolated area some distance away from her home and gangraped her. When she screamed for help, the neighbours Aruna and Sudhir Reddy switched on lights and rushed there.

After seeing them, the accused fled the scene.
The husband of the victim lodged a complaint with the T Sundupalli police station, who registered a case under under Sections 323, 376-D read with 34 of Indian Penal Code.

The then Rayachoti CI S Lingappa filed the chargesheet and rural CI Vara Prasad SI M Srinivasulu investigated the case.
The court convicted the accused and awarded them life imprisonment.
The court also imposed a fine of Rs one lakh on them.
Public Prosecutor Yashmin Began succeeded in proving the case before the court.
Both the convicts belonged to the same village.
Annamayya district SP V Vidyasagar Naidu appreciated Additional PP Yashmin Began, court HC Sudhakar Naik, constable Eeshwar and court liaison office Viswanath for their efforts to get the rapists punished by the court.
