AP: YSRCP Doctors wing voices concern at declining AP Universities' international rankings

Vijayawada, Nov 5 (UNI) The decline in Andhra Pradesh universities' international rankings in the QS World University Rankings: Asia 2027 is a serious concern for the state's higher education system and the future of its students, said Dr Ambati Naga Radhakrishna Yadav,Chairman, YSRCP NTR District Doctors Wing.
The absence of several prominent Andhra Pradesh universities from the QS Asia 2027 Top-500 highlights the need for urgent attention to academic standards, research facilities, faculty strength and industry partnerships, Dr. Yadav said in a statement here on Thursday.
Andhra University, Sri Venkateswara University, Acharya Nagarjuna University and other state institutions must be strengthened to ensure that students receive quality education and competitive career opportunities, Dr. Yadav said.
"The real victims of this decline are students from poor and middle-class families. Thousands of students depend on government universities for engineering, science and professional education, hoping to secure employment and improve their families' financial conditions. When universities lack adequate faculty, modern laboratories, industry exposure and effective placement support, students face greater difficulties competing for jobs, internships, research opportunities and higher education," he noted.
Yadav lamented that declining institutional reputation and inadequate academic infrastructure can disadvantage graduates in an increasingly competitive job market, adding that the government cannot ignore the aspirations of students who have invested their future in public universities.
Dr Yadav demanded that the Andhra Pradesh government immediately publish a White Paper on public universities, covering faculty vacancies, infrastructure, research funding, accreditation andf ive-year placement records. He called for urgent faculty recruitment, modern laboratories, stronger industry partnerships, compulsory internships, skill development and effective placement cells in every public university.
He urged the government to establish measurable university-wise improvement targets and ensure that students from economically weaker backgrounds receive equal opportunities to compete for employment and higher education.
Andhra Pradesh's students are not lacking in talent but they are lacking the institutional support and opportunities they deserve. The government must strengthen public universities immediately and ensure that no student's career is compromised by neglect of higher education, Dr. Yadav demanded.
