Army Commanders’ Conference begins; Land Warfare Doctrine to be released

New Delhi, Oct 21 (UNI) The Indian Army’s apex-level biannual Army Commanders’ Conference commenced in New Delhi on Wednesday, with senior military leadership set to deliberate on the evolving security environment, operational preparedness, capability development and the force’s transformation into a future-ready fighting force.
The three-day conference, being held from October 21 to 23 under the chairmanship of the Chief of the Army Staff (COAS), will be addressed by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh. The Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), Chief of the Naval Staff and Secretary, Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, will also deliver talks on contemporary security-related issues, according to the Ministry of Defence.
A key highlight of the conference will be the release of the Land Warfare Doctrine by the Defence Minister. The doctrine is expected to provide an overarching framework for preparing the Army to address the changing character of warfare and the challenges posed by future conflicts.
The conference will also focus on reviewing ongoing initiatives, identifying future priorities and formulating policy directions to enhance the Army’s operational effectiveness, technological capabilities and adaptability amid an evolving security landscape.
Rajnath Singh will unveil the annual United Nations Journal and felicitate Army personnel who have made notable contributions while serving as UN peacekeepers. The recognition will acknowledge their professionalism, exemplary service and contribution to international peace and security under the UN banner.
As part of efforts to promote environmental sustainability, efficient resource management and aviation safety, the COAS will confer awards for Green Military Stations and Aviation Flight Safety.
The Army Commanders’ Conference serves as a key institutional platform for the service’s senior leadership to assess operational and organisational priorities and chart its future course. The discussions are expected to contribute to building a progressive, adaptive and technologically enabled Indian Army capable of responding to emerging conventional and unconventional threats.
The Army Commanders’ Conference is the Indian Army’s apex-level biannual forum, bringing together its senior leadership to review the operational environment, assess preparedness and decide future policy priorities. The October 21–23 meeting comes amid a changing security environment in which technological advances, multi-domain operations and the growing integration of conventional and non-conventional capabilities are reshaping military planning.
The release of the Land Warfare Doctrine is a central feature of this edition of the conference. A land warfare doctrine provides broad operational principles and a framework for preparing, organising and employing land forces. It can help align force structuring, training, capability development and the integration of emerging technologies with the demands of future conflicts. The specific provisions of the doctrine will become clearer upon its release.UNI PWS AAB
