Arun Govil takes on King Dasharatha in 'Ramayana' poster

Mumbai, Oct 7 (UNI) Arun Govil, who remains closely associated with the role of Lord Ram on Indian television, will now portray King Dasharath in "Ramayana", with the makers unveiling his first solo poster from the film.
Dressed in royal attire, Govil appears as the ruler of Ayodhya and father of Ram.
The 68-year-old actor has carved a special place in the hearts of generations of viewers through his portrayal of Lord Ram on television. Now, seeing him portray King Dasharatha, a key character in the epic, in "Ramayana" will be a truly special experience. His inclusion in the film adds a unique dimension to its casting, as the actor who made the character of Ram iconic is now playing his father.
Sharing the poster on social media, the makers wrote, "He once brought Ram to life for a generation. Now, he returns to the world of Ramayana as the King of Ayodhya. Arun Govil as King Dashrath. "
The poster features Govil in a regal look as King Dasharath. His attire and look capture the personality, dignity, and influence of the King of Ayodhya. This look is especially special because audiences have long seen him portray Lord Ram, and now he will be seen playing the father of the same character.
In "Ramayana", Ranbir Kapoor will essay the role of Lord Ram, Sai Pallavi as Sita, Yash as Ravana, Sunny Deol as Hanuman and Ravi Dubey as Laxman.
Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, the film is produced by Namit Malhotra's Prime Focus Studios in association with DNEG and Yash's Monster Mind Creations. This two-part epic is set to release worldwide on November 5, 2026, with the first part releasing on Diwali 2027. The films will be released in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam, with an international IMAX release also planned.
