Arunachal Governor stresses welfare of ex-servicemen, families of fallen soldiers

Itanagar, Nov 1 (UNI) Arunachal Pradesh Governor Lt Gen (Retd) KT Parnaik has urged veterans of the 2nd Battalion of Rajputana Rifles to continue contributing to society by guiding the younger generation, strengthening local communities and supporting the families of fallen soldiers.
The Governor was speaking at the 12th Ex-Servicemen Reunion of 2 Rajputana Rifles (Tololing) held in Jaipur, Rajasthan, on Sunday. The reunion brought together veterans and Veer Naris from across the country to celebrate the regiment’s legacy and reaffirm its traditions of courage, discipline, honour and service.
Interacting with the veterans, Parnaik said their experience, leadership, discipline and spirit of selfless service remained valuable assets to society.
He urged them to uphold the values imbibed during their service in the armed forces and continue applying them in their post-retirement lives.
The Governor also stressed the need to ensure that ex-servicemen, Veer Naris and their family members receive the benefits and assistance due to them under various Central and state government welfare schemes.
He called upon veterans to spread awareness about these initiatives and help eligible beneficiaries access the support available.
He particularly emphasised that Veer Naris and children of fallen soldiers must not feel neglected and should receive the respect, care and opportunities needed to lead a dignified life.
The Governor further urged the veterans to preserve the camaraderie, brotherhood and mutual support that define the Rajputana Rifles, saying the bonds forged in uniform should remain strong throughout life.
The reunion is part of the initiatives undertaken by Parnaik during his tenure as Colonel of the Rajputana Rifles Regiment. The annual gathering provides an opportunity to review the welfare and wellbeing of ex-servicemen, Veer Naris and their families, identify their concerns and explore measures to address them.
The reunions are organised by veterans of the 2nd Battalion in collaboration with the serving battalion at different locations across the country.
