Arunachal: Tuting road connectivity restored after nearly a month-long disruption

Itanagar, June 5 (UNI) After nearly a month-long disruption, road connectivity to the Tuting sub-division in Arunachal Pradesh’s Upper Siang district was restored on Wednesday.
Massive landslides triggered by relentless rainfall had severed the Janbo–Migging stretch at multiple locations, paralyzing daily life and cutting off the region since mid-May.
According to Tuting Additional Deputy Commissioner Pandov Perme, the blockade had severely impacted public mobility, with commuters forced to trek through the treacherous jungle footpath from Singging village to Palling for nearly four hours along the left bank of the Siang River to reach the district headquarters, Yingkiong.
The disruption also led to a shortage of essential commodities, including petroleum, oil, and lubricants (POL), which have been unavailable since May 14. The fuel crisis further impacted mobile network operations, adding to the residents' hardships, officials said.
In a related incident on June 3, an LPG carrier truck returning with empty cylinders was swept off the road by a landslide between Migging and Mosing. Fortunately, no casualties were reported.
Meanwhile, Yingkiong has been grappling with a power outage for the past three days due to damaged electric poles along the Janbo–Bomdo road. Restoration work by the Electrical Department is underway, but continued bad weather is hampering efforts.
The District Administration, in coordination with 761 BRTF (BRO) and the Electrical Department, is working on a war footing to restore essential services.
Officials have urged the public to cooperate and remain patient during the ongoing restoration process.
