Assam gets specialised women and child care hospital

Guwahati, June 5 (UNI) Marking an important milestone in enhancing specialized healthcare for mothers and children, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Thursday inaugurated the 100-bedded Neotia Bhagirathi Women and Child Care Centre in Guwahati.
Established as an offshoot of an MoU with Assam Government, this facility is expected to help in expanding quality medical infrastructure across the state.
It may be noted that the launch of this 100-bed woman and child super-speciality hospital of Ambuja Neotia Healthcare Venture Limited in Guwahati would provide a comprehensive, and high-quality medical care to women and children throughout Assam and the wider North-Eastern region.
"Guwahati as an important healthcare hub for the Northeast as well as ASEAN countries, presents an opportunity to strengthen the region’s medical infrastructure.
Through this state of the art mother and child care facility, an attempt has been made to bring advanced clinical care, cutting-edge technology, and specialized services to women and children—not only in Assam but across the neighbouring states.
He also said that this facility dedicated to women and children, is expected to provide specialised, high-quality care across obstetrics, gynaecology, neonatology, infertility, and paediatrics," said Sarma while speaking on the occasion.

He also said that the present State government has deep focus on creating health care facilities as well medical education more accessible. "Therefore, the government is working to set up 24 medical colleges across the state. He also informed that considering the ever-increasing medical demand, the government has decided to augment the existing facilities of Guwahati Medical College and Hospital.
He said that steps have been taken to transform it into a 5000-bed hospital. Moreover, given the growing need of the students as well as the patients, Guwahati is catering to their demands through two medical colleges and hospitals in the city," he added.

Thanking the Ambuja Neotia Healthcare Venture Limited for expanding its footprint in Assam with the Launch of Neotia Bhagirathi Woman and Childcare Centre in Guwahati, Chief Minister Sarma said that the hospital would help in enhancing access to quality healthcare for mothers and children in the city.
He further said that Assam holds immense potential for growth in the healthcare sector, with a significant need for accessible, advanced medical services. “With the launch of this new facility, a new excellence in women and children’s healthcare has been reached at”, the Chief Minister added.
He, at the same time, assured all possible help to the Neotia group for the operational convenience of the hospital.
Earlier, Chairman Ambuja Neotia Group Harshvardhan Neotia gave a brief presentation about the new hospital in Assam. Executive Director, Ambuja Neotia Healthcare Venture Limited Parthiv Neotia, also shared the group’s vision in expanding quality health care in the North East.

The reservoir will have a concrete dam of 266m length, including the central spillway consisting of 7 nos. radial gates of size 12m x 6m.
