Ban Dhirendra Shastri's entry into Braj, Awadh:Akhilesh Yadav

Lucknow, Nov 4 (UNI) Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav on Wednesday targeted religious preacher Dhirendra Krishna Shastri over his alleged remarks on Lord Krishna and Lord Ram, saying he should be barred from entering the religious regions of Braj and Awadh.
Without naming Shastri, Yadav said in a social media post, "He has hurt the sentiments of both the Yaduvanshis and the Raghuvanshis. Now he will not be allowed entry into Braj or Awadh."

He further questioned the involvement of politicians in religious controversies, the SP chief said, "It seems that in Uttar Pradesh, an outsider is being asked to challenge someone's political and religious authority. Why are politicians bringing God into their conflicts?"
"Now neither any true Raghuvanshi nor any true Yaduvanshi will welcome him," he said, suggesting that a signboard be put up at the Uttar Pradesh-Madhya Pradesh border declaring: "Entry of those who commit blasphemy is prohibited on the religious land of UP."
Yadav further warned that those who had not abandoned religion would not hesitate to target religious sects in the future. "There's no need to explain who's next," he said, adding that the Nepal border might also have to be closed, as movement from there could become more difficult.
The controversy follows the circulation of two videos purportedly featuring remarks by Dhirendra Krishna Shastri. In one video, he allegedly referred to Lord Krishna as 'crooked', while in another, he reportedly made a controversial comment about Lord Ram's father. Shastri subsequently issued a clarification, maintaining that his remarks had been misinterpreted.
Yadav's statement assumes significance as Shastri is scheduled to hold a religious discourse (Katha) in Pratapgarh from November 17 to 20. The programme is being organised by former Uttar Pradesh minister and Jansatta Dal (Loktantrik) chief Raghuraj Pratap Singh, popularly known as Raja Bhaiya.
