Bangladesh unveil squad for Emerging Nations Trophy event

Abu Dhabi, Nov 4 (UNI) Bangladesh have become the latest team to announce their squad for the upcoming ICC Women's Emerging Nations Trophy event in the UAE.
The tournament will be the first chance for new skipper Nahida Akter to show her capabilities as captain after she was named as Nigar Sultana Joty's successor last month, with Bangladesh drawn
in Group B alongside Pakistan, Thailand, Netherlands and Zimbabwe for the 10-team event that commences on November 12.
Experienced batter Sobhana Mostary will provide Nahida support in her role as vice-captain, while Sultana Joty is also named in the 15-member squad and will continue to play despite the absence of the captaincy.
Key pacer Marufa Akter will miss the event due to her ongoing ankle issue, with fellow quick Disha Biswas included in the squad after she missed Bangladesh's Asian Games campaign in September.
There are also recalls for opener Sathi Rani and all-rounder Jannatul Ferdus Sumona, with batter Sharmin Sultana and off-spinner Sultana Khatun among the players to miss out on selection.
Bangladesh's first match at the tournament comes against Pakistan at Karwan Cricket Ground in Ajman on November 12.
Bangladesh squad: Nahida Akter (c), Sobhana Mostary (vc), Dilara Akter, Sharmin Akter Supta, Shorna Akter, Disha Biswas, Juairiya Ferdous, Jannatul Ferdus Sumona, Rabeya Khan, Fahima Khatun, Shanjida Akther Maghla, Ritu Moni, Sathi Rani, Nigar Sultana Joty, Fariha Islam Trisna.

04 Nov 2026 | 4:50 PM

Perth, Nov 4 (UNI) Adam Zampa has made it clear that the three ODIs against England, beginning in Perth on November 13, matter far more than a routine home series.
Australia’s recent 50-over results haven't been promising, and the leg-spinner believes the next few weeks will shape how the side approaches the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2027. This year in ODIs, Australia beat Zimbabwe 3-0, but lost to Pakistan, Bangladesh, and South Africa, and Zampa admits the constant changes in personnel have not helped.
