Bengal CM Suvendu Adhikari likens opposition to ‘cockroaches’, alleges plot to create Bangladesh-like anarchy

Siliguri, Nov 3 (UNI) West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari on Tuesday launched a sharp attack on the opposition, accusing defeated political parties, jihadi elements, Maoists and Communists of attempting to create a Bangladesh-like situation of anarchy in India. He said those seeking to challenge the BJP must first win elections.
Addressing a political rally and procession in Siliguri under the slogan ‘Save Democracy, Remove Misrule’, Adhikari, without naming the Trinamool Congress, repeatedly referred to it as the “Pisi-Bhaipo party”. He alleged that its leaders, having lost political ground in West Bengal, had joined hands with other anti-BJP forces in Delhi to create instability.
“Some defeated political parties in India are trying to create a situation of anarchy and disorder like Bangladesh. They are trying to create instability in the country,” he said, alleging that the opposition had brought together “Jamaati, jihadi, Maoist, Dimagi Naxal, atheist Communist” elements.
“When the Pisi-Bhaipo party cannot do anything in West Bengal and people are no longer accepting them, they have gone to Delhi and joined hands with the Congress, Communists and these jihadi, Jamaati and Naxal elements to create an anarchic situation in the country,” he said.
Adhikari challenged the opposition to contest elections and win a mandate instead of mobilising against the BJP government.
“If you want to come to power, win elections. Participate in elections and come to power by winning. You will never be able to win elections,” he said, adding that the opposition would not defeat the BJP as long as Narendra Modi remained Prime Minister.
“This is a new India. Narendra Modi is not merely the leader of the country; he is a world leader,” he said, praising the Prime Minister’s performance since 2014.
The Chief Minister cited India’s economic growth, its response to the Covid-19 pandemic, vaccine development and supply to 55 countries as achievements of the Modi government. He also referred to the evacuation of around 30,000 Indian students from Ukraine during the Russia-Ukraine war, the construction of the Ram temple and the abrogation of Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir.
“Do not challenge Narendra Modi. First win elections, then challenge him,” he said.
Describing the opposition’s political condition as “very bad”, Adhikari accused the Pisi-Bhaipo party of seeking support from “cockroaches and bedbugs” after losing political ground.
“Condition is very bad for the Pisi-Bhaipo political party. What a condition! They have finally gone to Delhi seeking help from cockroaches and bedbugs,” he said.
The Chief Minister’s remarks followed an address by union Minister Dr Sukanta Majumdar, who alleged that the Trinamool Congress had joined hands with the “Red (Communists) Gunda” and other political forces to create unrest in Delhi.
Majumdar said cockroaches were crushed under people’s shoes, using the analogy to target opposition leaders whom he accused of trying to disturb the political situation.
Echoing the union Minister, Adhikari said the BJP knew how to drive away such elements. “Dr Sukanta Majumdar has said that we know how to drive them away. We will do exactly that,” he said.
Majumdar questioned the opposition’s claims of defending democracy, citing the alleged misrule of the CPI(M) in West Bengal.
“You cannot teach us democracy. If you want to talk about democracy, go to Lenin’s country and practise democracy there,” he said, warning against attempts to create unrest.
Referring to Ramakrishna’s saying that there was nothing wrong in hissing when necessary, Majumdar said the BJP would not remain silent if challenged.
Adhikari also used a generational analogy to attack opposition parties, describing the Trinamool Congress as “2G”, the Congress as “4G” referring to the political generations associated with the Nehru family and Rahul Gandhi.
The rally came amid a broader opposition campaign against the BJP, with political parties raising questions over democracy and the functioning of institutions. UNI MBN NST CDS
