Bengal Forest minister oversees preparations for CM’s Kumargram visit on November 18

Siliguri, Nov 4 (UNI) West Bengal Forest Minister Manoj Kumar Oraon is overseeing preparations for the observance of Janajati Gourab Saptaho across North Bengal, with Kumargram in Alipurduar district set to host the concluding programme on November 18, which Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari is scheduled to attend.
The minister on Wednesday supervised the installation of a statue of Bhagwan Birsa Munda at Kali Bari Maath in Kumargram, where the Chief Minister will unveil it during his visit. Oraon also held a meeting with officials and other stakeholders to review arrangements for the programme at the ground, which falls within his Assembly constituency.
Speaking to reporters after the meeting, Oraon said Janajati Gourab Saptaho would be observed across the state and conclude on November 18 in Kumargram. A series of programmes would be organised in different blocks, schools and at road crossings to mark the occasion.
He said some roads would also be named after Bhagwan Birsa Munda as part of the observance. The minister added that the Chief Minister would attend a major programme in South Bengal on November 15 before visiting Kumargram three days later for the concluding ceremony.
Oraon said the ground was relatively small, but efforts were being made to make arrangements to accommodate at least 20,000 people for the Chief Minister’s programme.
The minister is currently coordinating various programmes across North Bengal blocks while personally supervising preparations for the November 18 event in Kumargram.
