Siliguri, Sep 17 (UNI) Tibetan Buddhist teacher His Holiness Tulku Thamthog Rinpoche arrived at Bagdogra Airport on Thursday and left for Mirik to attend a spiritual programme.
His arrival has generated significant excitement among Buddhist followers in Mirik and neighbouring areas.
"He will be given a grand welcome by the general public and administrative officials in Mirik tomorrow, while devotees from the Darjeeling hills, Sikkim and the Dooars region will attend the two-day religious rituals on September 19 and 20," one of his followers and organisers, Sanjay Syangbo, told reporters at the airport.
His Holiness Tulku Thamthog Rinpoche is a renowned Tibetan Buddhist teacher, scholar and humanitarian. He served as the abbot of Namgyal Monastery, the personal monastery of His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama in Dharamsala, from 2009 to 2025. He said Rinpoche has dedicated his life to the preservation, education and propagation of Buddhism, while promoting world peace and the happiness, peace and well-being of all beings.
