Big relief to Aditya Thackery in Disha Salian death case: 'No evidence of murder and rape'

Mumbai, July 3 (UNI) The Mahrashtra goverment and Mumbai police have denied that celebrity manager Disha Salian, former manager of late actor Sushant Singh Rajput, was raped and murdered in 2020, the year when the Uddhav Thackeray government was in power.
The police have stuck to their five-year-old stand, which is considered a major relief to Shiv Sena (UBT) MLA Aditya Thackery. Disha's father had filed a petition in the Bombay High Court seeking the court nod for a probe by a Special Investigation Team (SIT) or CBI, alleging foul play and political pressure involving the junior Thackeray and a former city police commissioner, among others.
In response to the petition, senior inspector of Malvani police station Shailendra Nagarkar on Wednesday filed an affidavit stating that the plea seeking to transfer the probe to the CBI and action against the SIT appointed to reinvestigate the alleged crime should be rejected.
Nagarkar has given details of what reportedly happened on the crucial night when Disha's body was found. He said the post-mortem report was "conclusive in nature and mentions no signs of sexual and, or, physical assault." Since questions were raised about the investigation, the government had appointed an SIT which endorsed the findings of the earlier investigation.
There were six CCTV cameras installed at vital points in the premises of Regent Galaxy building. All the CCTV footage were carefully observed for the duration between June 4, 2020 to June 9. Nothing suspicious or objectionable was noticed. "Those facts in the footage were in line with the statement of witnesses," Nagarkar said.
"Mobile call records of all the people present on the fateful night as well as other important people were called and carefully observed. However, nothing suspicious or objectionable calls were found," the affidavit states.
Salians' father in his plea claimed that Disha’s death was not accidental but a brutal rape and murder that was politically orchestrated to protect certain influential persons.
Disha, 28, died on June 8, 2020, after falling off the 14th floor of a residential building in suburban Malad, six days before Sushant Singh Rajput’s death at his Bandra residence on June 14.
Reacting to the state affidavit, the Nationalist Congress Party (Sharad Pawar faction) leader Rohit Pawar blamed the BJP for taking political advantage in the case. "Aaditya Thackeray had no relation to this incident. The BJP and its allies attempted to take political advantage by associating Disha Salian's name with Aaditya Thackeray... For political gain, these leaders tried to use the name of a person who is no more," said Rohit Pawar.
