Bihar CM Samrat Choudhary condoles death of Nana Patekar

Patna, Oct 8 (UNI) Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary on Thursday expressed deep grief over the demise of renowned actor Nana Patekar, saying Indian cinema had lost a great and versatile artiste with his death at the age of 75.
In a condolence message posted on ‘X’, Choudhary described the news of Nana Patekar’s demise as extremely sad and heartbreaking.
The Chief Minister prayed to God to grant eternal peace to the departed soul and give strength to the bereaved family members and the actor’s countless admirers to bear the irreparable loss. He concluded his message with “Om Shanti” as a mark of tribute.
Nana Patekar reportedly passed away on Thursday morning at his residence in Goa. According to reports, he suffered a severe cardiac arrest and was rushed to hospital, where doctors attempted to revive him for nearly 45 minutes but could not save him.
Born Vishwanath Patekar on January 1, 1951, in Maharashtra, Nana Patekar began his acting career in theatre before making his Hindi film debut with Gaman in 1978. He subsequently established himself as one of Indian cinema’s most distinctive performers with powerful roles in films such as Salaam Bombay!, Parinda, Prahaar: The Final Attack, Angaar, Tirangaa, Krantiveer, Agni Sakshi, Khamoshi: The Musical, Ab Tak Chhappan, Apaharan, Raajneeti and Natsamrat.
His portrayal of Uday Shetty in the comedy Welcome also showcased his remarkable flair for humour and comic timing, winning him a new generation of admirers.
Nana Patekar was the recipient of three National Film Awards, four Filmfare Awards and several other honours. He was conferred the Padma Shri by the Government of India in 2013. He won National Film Awards for his performances in Parinda, Krantiveer and Agni Sakshi.
Throughout his illustrious career, Nana Patekar left an indelible mark as a leading man, antagonist, character actor and comedian. His distinctive voice, powerful dialogue delivery and exceptional ability to portray complex emotions made him one of the most memorable actors of Indian cinema.
His demise is an irreparable loss to both the Hindi and Marathi film industries.
