Tripura govt announced to set State Staff Selection Commission for recruitment

Agartala, Oct 8 (UNI) The state government has resolved to establish a new Tripura Staff Selection Commission (TSSC) to manage recruitment for Group-B, Group-C, and Group-D positions, at a time when two other recruitment boards have been in functional.
According to cabinet spokesperson and Tourism Minister Sushanta Chowdhury, this newly created institution aims to enhance the transparency, impartiality, and systematic nature of the recruitment process.
"The State Cabinet has made this significant decision to establish a more organized recruitment framework. The government remains dedicated to facilitating a transparent and impartial recruitment process grounded in qualifications and merit, while simultaneously expanding employment opportunities within the government sector for young professionals," he stated.
Chowdhury further noted that the proposed Commission will operate as an independent entity with its own administrative framework and operational guidelines, and will be responsible for administering examinations to fill various categories of government positions.
Nevertheless, the Cabinet's decision has prompted scrutiny regarding the rationale and intended functions of an additional recruitment body, particularly given that the Tripura Public Service Commission (TPSC) and the Joint Recruitment Board, Tripura (JRBT) already exist and have previously executed recruitment procedures for numerous categories of government posts.
The official JRBT recruitment portal maintains documentation pertaining to the recruitment of Multi-Tasking Staff in Group-D and Group-C classifications.
The Group-C recruitment initiative executed by JRBT encompassed positions including Lower Division Clerk, Agriculture Assistant, Junior Operator (Pump), and Junior Multi-Tasking Operator, whereas the TPSC has maintained oversight of recruitment for Group A and B positions.
