Bihar: Govt. initiates treatment facility for children suffering from cleft lip, cleft palate & tongue-tie

Patna, Oct 2 (UNI) The Bihar Health Department has launched a special campaign under the National Child Health Programme for surgical treatment of children suffering from cleft lip, cleft palate and tongue-tie, a condition that restricts the movement of the tongue.
The campaign was launched at Patna Medical College and Hospital (PMCH), with 12 medical institutions across the state being included in the initiative.
On the first day of the campaign, five children underwent successful surgeries at PMCH. They included two children with cleft palate, two with cleft lip and one suffering from tongue-tie.
The surgeries were performed under the leadership of Dr Sanjay Kumar Gupta, head of the Department of Plastic Surgery, by Dr Purushottam Kumar and Dr Vikas Kumar.
Dr Ashok Kumar, in-charge of the Anaesthesia Unit, Dr Shabkat and Dr Preeti Sharma, head of the Department of Ear, Nose and Throat (ENT), provided key support during the procedures.
