Bihar’s cultural heritage needs special understanding: Governor

Patna, Oct 21 (UNI) Bihar Governor Lieutenant General (Retd.) Syed Ata Hasnain today said the state’s geographical location and strategic importance as a border state necessitate a special perspective to understand its significance.
The Governor made the remarks during an interaction with seven officers of the 2011 batch of the Indian Foreign Service (IFS), who called on him at Bihar Lok Bhavan as part of their mid-career training programme.
During the meeting, Hasnain discussed Bihar’s Buddhist and cultural heritage, the glorious knowledge tradition of Nalanda, and the revival of Nalanda University in its new form.
He said knowledge was an important source of power and stressed that diplomats should make effective use of it in the national interest.
Highlighting the talent and capabilities of people from Bihar living abroad, the Governor said there was a need to connect them with the state’s development. He said the Bihar Foundation could play a significant role in this direction.
Hasnain also emphasised the need to strengthen the foundation further and develop effective leadership to enhance its role.
