BJP attacks on Cong offices in Kerala over Amit Shah black-flag protest ‘political drama’: KC Venugopal

Thiruvananthapuram, Oct 1 (UNI) AICC general secretary K C Venugopal has condemned the attacks on Congress offices in Kerala, including stone-pelting at the Thiruvananthapuram DCC office and the setting ablaze of the Anavoor Mandalam Committee office, and termed the protests being held by BJP workers over the black-flag demonstration against union Home Minister Amit Shah as a “farce”.
Venugopal said the attacks on Congress offices were highly condemnable and urged the police to initiate strong legal action against those responsible for the violence.
“Violence against Congress party offices, including the shattering of the glass panes of the Thiruvananthapuram DCC office in stone-pelting and the setting ablaze of the Anavoor Mandalam Committee office at night, is condemnable,” he said.
He alleged that BJP workers were staging protests across Kerala in the name of the black-flag demonstration against Shah.
“In India ruled by the BJP, a situation exists where there is no freedom even to protest,” Venugopal alleged.
He further alleged that the BJP, which had “lost face at the national level” over issues including the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls and the examination controversy, was now attempting to disturb the peaceful life of people in Kerala through violence.
“The BJP's method is to create an atmosphere of conflict and promote anarchy. This can never be accepted,” he said.
Venugopal called upon the police to take stringent legal action against those leading the attacks and creating violence in the State.
