BJP's ‘Save Democracy’ campaign reaches Hapoli

Itanagar, Nov 4 (UNI) The BJP's Lower Subansiri district unit organised a ‘Loktantra Bachao, Arajakta Hatao’ (Save Democracy, Remove Anarchy) rally at Hapoli in Ziro on Wednesday, campaigning for public participation in the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls.
The programme, held at Padi Yubbe Outdoor Stadium, was attended by BJP Arunachal Pradesh in-charge Devesh Kumar, MLAs Hage Appa, Puinyo Apum and Topin Ete, State BJP general secretary Tadar Niglar, APIDFC Chairman Nani Lajie, state vice-presidents Taying Shakuntala and Higam Loyi Ango, and district BJP president Hage Kobin, among other party leaders and workers.
Addressing the gathering, Kumar described SIR as an important exercise for ensuring accurate and transparent electoral rolls.
He stressed the need to verify voter details and identify duplicate and ineligible entries in accordance with prescribed procedures, while ensuring that no eligible citizen is excluded.
“A strong democracy begins with an accurate voter list,” he said, urging people to verify their electoral particulars and cooperate with election officials during the revision exercise.
The programme also featured a ‘Rashtra Chintan Samvad’, an interactive discussion with intellectuals and senior citizens on SIR implementation, electoral awareness, transparency and public participation.
MLAs Hage Appa and Topin Ete and other speakers also called for responsible citizenship and greater public participation in the electoral process.
