BPCL backs Team India as principal partner at Asian Games 2026

Mumbai, Sep 19 (UNI)Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL), a Fortune Global 500 company and a Maharatna PSU, is backing Team India as its Principal Partner at the 20th Asian Games, being held in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan, from September 19 to October 4.
The partnership marks another significant step in BPCL’s longstanding association with Indian sport and its commitment to supporting athletes who carry the aspirations of a nation on the international stage.


For BPCL, the association with Team India goes beyond being a sporting partnership. It represents a shared spirit of performance, perseverance, discipline and the pursuit of excellence. As Indian athletes take on some of Asia’s best at the Games, BPCL is supporting their journey and celebrating the sporting talent that continues to put India on the global map.

Adding to the significance of the partnership, 13 BPCL-associated sportspersons are part of the Indian contingent at the Asian Games, representing the country across cricket, hockey, volleyball, badminton, archery, athletics, swimming and table tennis.
The contingent comprises six BPCL-recruited sportspersons and seven athletes supported through the BPCL Scholarship Scheme, demonstrating the organisation’s multi-pronged approach to identifying, nurturing and supporting sporting talent.


The BPCL-recruited contingent features some of India's recognised sporting names. Shreyas Iyer, Sanju Samson and Shivam Dube will represent India in cricket, while Shilanand Lakra will take the field in hockey. Jerome Vinith Charles, Captain of the Indian Men’s Volleyball Team, will lead the volleyball campaign, while RMV Guru Sai Dutt, who has been associated with the Indian badminton team in a coaching capacity, will contribute to the team’s campaign.


The strength of BPCL’s sporting ecosystem is further reflected through its Scholarship Scheme, which supports athletes at different stages of their sporting journeys. The scholarship contingent at the Asian Games includes Thirumuru Ganesh Mani Ratnam in archery, Vishal T.K. in athletics, Tharun Manepalli in badminton, Rajinder Singh in hockey, Shrihari Natraj in swimming, and Payas Jain and Syndrela Das in table tennis.


The participation of BPCL-supported sportspersons across disciplines reflects the organisation’s continued commitment to Indian sport. Through its recruitment programme and BPCL Scholarship Scheme, the organisation supports both established athletes and emerging talent.


With 503 Indian sportspersons competing at the 20th Asian Games, BPCL, as Principal Partner of Team India, stands alongside the Indian contingent as they represent the nation on the international stage, reinforcing its commitment to nurturing sporting talent and supporting India’s sporting aspirations.
