BRS will return to power in Telangana, KCR will become CM again: KTR

Kochi/Hyderabad, Sep 30 (UNI) Bharat Rashtra Samiti (BRS) Working President K T Rama Rao (KTR) said the BRS would return to power in Telangana and party chief K Chandrashekar Rao (KCR) would become Chief Minister again.
Speaking at the India Today Conclave South 2026 on “Telangana State – Formation to Transformation” in Kochi, Kerala, on Wednesday, KTR ruled out any alliance with the BJP, saying the BRS had never entered into an alliance with the BJP in its 26-year history and had contested the 2014, 2018 and 2023 elections independently.
KTR said the BRS was ideologically opposed to the BJP and questioned why the party would consider an alliance with it.
On delimitation, he expressed concern that a population-based exercise could disadvantage southern states that had successfully implemented population-control measures.
He said the southern states' share of India's population had declined from around 24 per cent to 19 per cent and argued that any increase in parliamentary seats should be proportionate.
He also questioned why Assembly seats were not being increased along with Lok Sabha seats and why women's reservation was not being implemented in the existing 543 Lok Sabha constituencies. KTR said the BRS would support delimitation if seats were increased on a proportional basis.
KTR alleged that the BJP-led Centre had failed to fully implement assurances made to Telangana under the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act.
He also questioned why Assembly seats were increased in Assam and Jammu and Kashmir but not in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.
Targeting the Congress government in Telangana, KTR said a situation of “RRR — Recall, Regret and Revolt” had emerged among people.
He alleged that the Congress had made more than 420 promises during the 2023 elections but had failed to fully implement them.
KTR claimed that dissatisfaction with the Congress government was growing and that people were reconsidering their decision to vote for the party in 2023.
He said, according to the BRS, there was a growing demand among people to see KCR return as Chief Minister.
He also criticised Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, alleging that he was giving greater importance to the Congress leadership in Delhi than to the interests of Telangana.
