Mumbai, Oct 28 (UNI) Jio Platforms shares debuted on the stock market on Wednesday and climbed to Rs 1,388.60 on the National Stock Exchange (NSE). The stock went up by Rs 269.60, or 24.09%, against its IPO issue price of Rs 1,119.

The rally followed the company’s listing at Rs 1,358, a premium of 21.36% over the issue price.
At the listing price, Jio Platforms commanded a market capitalisation of around 12.6 lakh crore, making it India’s second most valuable listed company and also the country’s most valuable telecom company by market capitalisation.
With the listing of Jio Platforms, the Reliance group, which includes RIL, Jio Platforms and Jio Financial, now have a combined market capitalisation of Rs 29.90 lakh crore, which makes it the biggest business group in India, ahead of the Tatas and the Adanis.
Jio Platforms raised around Rs 30,188 crore through its IPO, making it India’s largest-ever public issue by size and surpassing Hyundai Motor India’s Rs 27,870-crore offering in 2024.
The listing ceremony at the NSE was attended by Reliance Industries founder Dhirubhai Ambani’s wife Kokilaben Ambani, Reliance Industries Limited CMD Mukesh Ambani, Reliance Foundation Chairperson Nita Ambani, Jio Platforms MD Akash Ambani, Reliance Industries Executive Director Anant Ambani and Reliance Retail Ventures Limited Executive Director Isha Ambani.
Also present at the event was Akash Ambani’s wife Shloka Mehta, Anant Ambani’s wife Radhika Merchant and Isha Ambani’s husband Anand Piramal.
Speaking at the Jio Platforms listing ceremony at the NSE, Jio Platforms Managing Director Akash Ambani said that the IPO demand exceeded expectations.
“My heart overflows with gratitude. Gratitude to every individual, every institutional investor in India and abroad, who made our IPO a blockbuster success,” Jio Platforms Managing Director Akash Ambani said at the listing ceremony.
He reaffirmed the aim to take the company to greater heights, with the IPO being just a “starting line”, adding that the public response to the IPO surpassed his expectations.
He said Jio’s homegrown platforms serve more than 540 million customers, as he promised to take the company to greater heights and grow investor wealth, like Reliance Industries has done for over nearly 50 years.
“We promise to take Jio to greater heights of growth, excellence and reputation in India and the world,” Jio Platforms MD Akash Ambani said at the NSE listing ceremony.
Akash said the next generation's responsibility was not simply to preserve what it had inherited, but to make Jio bigger, better and more meaningful for India.
He said Jio had democratised data in its first decade and would now focus on making more technologies accessible. “In our next ten years, we want to democratise every technology which can transform Indian lives like artificial intelligence (AI), cloud, connected devices, connectivity even from space and digital services not yet imagined,” Akash Ambani said.
Akash Ambani described the company’s ambition as building a digital society where connectivity, computing and intelligence work together seamlessly.
He said that India is emerging as a creator of technology rather than merely a consumer. “We are now ready to take the tricolour global,” Jio Platforms MD Akash Ambani said.
Seated alongside his wife Nita Ambani, 69-year-old Reliance Industries CMD Mukesh Ambani got teary-eyed as Reliance Industries Executive Director Anant Ambani spoke about at the NSE bell-ringing ceremony of how the late Reliance founder Dhirubhai Ambani’s dream as a little boy is now become a living reality in millions of Indian hearts.
Thanking partners, shareholders and friends from stock exchanges, Anant Ambani said, “Years ago, a dream emerged from a simple home in Chorwad. A boy who worked at a petrol pump with no money and no identity. He (Reliance founder late Dhirubhai Ambani) showed that even an ordinary Indian can dream extraordinary dreams”.
“Then our father saw the dream that India will not lag behind anyone. On the barren land of Jamnagar, stands the world’s largest refinery. He showed that when India builds, the world watches,” Reliance Industries Executive Director Anant Ambani said.
He thanked the people who work behind the scenes, mentioning, “To every member of the Jio family, the field teams, the technicians who climb towers in rain and heat, the engineers, the service staff, the store teams, our retail partners and all their families, whatever we are today, it is because of you. This day is yours”.
Speaking at the event, Reliance Retail Ventures Ltd Executive Director Isha Ambani, recalled a private family conversation during the Jio Platforms IPO listing ceremony. “A few evenings ago, at our dinner table, my father Mukesh Ambani was remembering his days in 1977. He was 20 years old, working on Reliance’s first public offering. My grandfather Dhirubhai Ambani decided to take Reliance to the people. This year, Jio earned about USD 15.5 billion in revenue and about USD 8 billion in real earnings. Very few companies anywhere in the world have done this. That too in only 10 years. But behind every number is a customer and to every customer, you made Jio,” Reliance Retail Ventures Ltd Executive Director Isha Ambani said.
“My father saw a future others could not see. Again and again my father found the courage to build what others called impossible. And again and again, hundreds of millions of Indians have found possibilities and ambition in his vision. Akash, for the last 13 years on this journey, I don’t think you’ve come home a single night before midnight. I could not be prouder to be your sister,” Reliance Retail Ventures Ltd Executive Director Isha Ambani said.
