CJP founder Dipke alleges 'Unofficial Emergency' under Modi Govt

Nagpur, Oct 14 (UNI) Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) founder Abhijit Dipke on Wednesday accused the Narendra Modi-led government of imposing an "unofficial Emergency" in the country, alleging that even unfurling the national flag at Jantar Mantar required permission and protesters were being sent to custody for five days.
Speaking to media here Dipke alleged that Saurav Das and Ashutosh Ranka had been illegally sent to custody and questioned the use of the term "Urban Naxals" against those raising their voices against the government.
Asserting that the CJP was an independent pressure group with no affiliation to any political party, he said its protest and that of the INDIA bloc shared a common cause , opposition to Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar.
"The INDIA bloc is fighting to save the country's democracy and Constitution," he said, adding that the primary concern was the alleged deletion of names from voter lists.
"If people's names are not on the voter list, how will they reach the ballot paper?" he asked, questioning the Supreme Court's role during the alleged deletion of voters' names, including in West Bengal.
Dipke said the country would continue to follow the Constitution and the ideals of Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar despite attempts to impose the RSS ideology.
He said the right to protest was a fundamental right and stressed the need to stand with people facing injustice.
Clarifying that the CJP was not affiliated with any political party, he said it was not necessary for his organisation to join other parties or for them to join it, as everyone should raise their voice against issues affecting the country.
He said Uddhav Thackeray and Raj Thackeray had extended support when the CJP staged a protest at Jantar Mantar.
Responding to allegations against the protesters, Dipke urged senior advocate Harish Salve to submit any evidence he had to union Home Minister Amit Shah and asked the government to take action if such evidence existed.
Targeting Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, Dipke said the latter should focus on the drought situation in the state instead of bringing Pakistan, the United States and China into every issue.
He said the government must address farmers' problems and assured that his organisation would stand with them.
Dipke also criticised the RSS, alleging that it had flattered the British and said social justice, as advocated by Dr Ambedkar, remained central to his organisation's ideology.
Rejecting the need for security, Dipke said he was ready to face arrest if the authorities wished to take action against him.
He also alleged that a video circulated by the Delhi Police had been edited.
