Commonwealth Parliamentary Conference to be held in Dharamshala on June 30 & July 1

Dharamshala, June 22 (UNI) The Himachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly will host the annual conference of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA) India Region-II at the Tapovan Assembly complex here on June 30 and July 1.
This was announced by Speaker Kuldeep Singh Pathania during a high-level review meeting with district officials.
He said that CPA India Region-II comprises five states — Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, Jammu & Kashmir, and Delhi and for the two-day event, Speakers of six states have been
specially invited as guests of honour.
Pathania said that the conference theme is “Good Governance in the Digital Age: Managing Resources, Protecting Democracy, and Embracing Innovation.”
He said that these three key topics will be discussed.
Briefing about the program Pathania said that on June 30, Role of Legislatures in Resource Management vis-a-vis State Development will be discussed.

Pathania further said that on next day July 1 morning session the disqualification under the Tenth Schedule (Articles 102 & 191) will be discussed.
He said that in afternoon session on the same day use of Artificial Intelligence in Legislative Assemblies will be discussed.
He said that Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla will inaugurate the event, and Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla will preside over the closing ceremony. Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, Rajya Sabha Deputy Chairman Dr. Harivansh Narayan Singh, Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri, Leader of Opposition Jairam Thakur, and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Harshvardhan Chauhan will also attend the program.
Delegates from various states, including MPs and MLAs, will begin arriving in Dharamshala from June 29. The Assembly complex will be opened to tourists from July 2.
Pathania noted this is the first time CPA Region-II’s annual conference is being held in Dharamshala, marking a milestone for the hill city already prominent on the tourism map.
He said that all arrangements, including security, accommodation, protocol, and traffic, are being finalized by the district administration and assembly secretariat.
In the meeting Deputy Chief Whip Kewal Singh Pathania, Divisional Commissioner RK Paruthi, Inspector General of Police Abhishek Dullar, Assembly Secretary Yashpal Sharma, Deputy Commissioner Hemraj Bairwa, Superintendent of Police Shalini Agnihotri, Municipal Corporation Dharamshala Commissioner Zafar Iqbal, Joint Director and Chief Spokesperson of the Assembly Hardayal Bhardwaj and senior officers of various departments were also present.
