Lucknow, Sept 27 (UNI) Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath stated that members of the Congress and the Samajwadi Party (SP) did not attend the Ram Mandir's foundation-laying ceremony or the consecration (Pran-Pratishtha) of Ram Lalla, despite receiving invitations, because they were focused on their vote banks.
"They feared that their 'jali' caps (skullcaps) might slip off. The CM warned that 'Kalnemis' (deceitful impostors) would also infiltrate the cause of Lord Ram, and it is necessary to remain vigilant against them," he said.
The Chief Minister was addressing a gathering on Sunday at the inauguration of the birth centenary year (1926–2026) of Ashok Singhal, the former International President of the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP). A documentary on Ashok Singhal's life was also screened during the event held at CMS School, Gomti Nagar Extension.
The CM remarked that Singhal had dedicated his life as the very 'soul' (pran) of the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi cause. The flame he ignited was not merely for the Ram Janmabhoomi site itself, but for the restoration of honor and pride (pran-pratishtha) of every symbol of national identity. We must work unitedly to eradicate every vestige of slavery.
The CM alleged that those hostile to Lord Ram leave no stone unturned in their attempts to defame Ayodhya. He noted that those who once opposed the Ram Mandir and fired upon Ram devotees are now occasionally trying to portray themselves as devotees of Ram; this, he said, represents an ideological victory for the Vishwa Hindu Parishad.
He warned the 'Bajrangis' (Bajrang Dal members) that 'Kalnemis' would infiltrate the mission, urging them to stay alert. Devotees of Babar would attempt to humiliate them, but the devotees of Bajrang Bali must not allow such conspiracies to succeed.
The CM stated that when the Ram Janmabhoomi matter reached the courts, Ashok ji’s team was backed by lawyers, archaeologists, and subject-matter experts armed with facts and evidence, whereas the opposing side—comprising the Congress, Samajwadi Party members, and Leftists—relied on absurd rhetoric and falsehoods. "They conspired to prevent a verdict in favor of the Ram Mandir. The Congress had even submitted an affidavit in the Supreme Court claiming that Ram and Krishna had no historical existence. Those who insulted Hindu society are now questioning us about Ayodhya," he noted.
CM Yogi remarked that the flame Ashok ji ignited in the 1980s has now transformed into a blazing fire, working ceaselessly for the protection and upliftment of the entire Hindu society. Whenever asked about his life's purpose, Ashok ji would recite: "Body dedicated, mind dedicated, and this life dedicated; I wish, O land of my country, to offer you even more." This sentiment was not for himself, but for the nation, *Sanatan Dharma*, unity and integrity, and the security of the entire Hindu society.
Recalling Ashok Singhal's life, the Chief Minister noted that he came into contact with the RSS while pursuing engineering at Banaras Hindu University. He dedicated his life to the nation and Sanatan Dharma, serving as an RSS pracharak (full-time worker). At that time, few believed that the Bharatiya Jana Sangh would rise to power or that BJP governments would eventually be formed at both the Centre and in the states. His sole mission was to ensure that no harm came to *Sanatan Dharma* and to prevent anyone from compromising its security.
CM Yogi stated that in 1528, a foreign invader demolished Lord Ram's temple and erected a structure symbolizing subjugation. Throughout the ensuing 500 years, no one—be it Hindu society, religious leaders, saints, Naga ascetics, Sikh warriors, the youth, women, or kings—remained silent. Individuals constantly risked their lives, ready to make the ultimate sacrifice, to liberate the Ram Janmabhoomi. They continued to make sacrifices for the cause of Ram Janmabhoomi.
The CM stated that there were dozens of villages in the Awadh region where people had not worn footwear or turbans for 500 years. At that time, strength was fragmented; we were unable to fight unitedly. If one side was strong, the other was weak. Even then, there was no shortage of adversaries and conspirators intent on causing division. Hindu society possessed the strength and capability even then—people could have fought and reclaimed what was theirs—but there was a lack of a unified platform to bring them together. Ashok Singhal filled this void in leadership.
The CM noted that when Ashokji assumed responsibility for the VHP in 1982 and the 'Ram Janmabhoomi Mukti Yagya Samiti' was formed in 1983, he made a solemn vow: he would not rest until the cause of Ram was fulfilled. Without stopping, bending, or wavering, he adopted the mantra of 'Charaiveti-Charaiveti' (keep moving forward) as his life's guiding principle and succeeded in uniting the saints on a single platform.
He united a fragmented society for the Ram Mandir movement and established a network of 'Ekal Vidyalayas' (single-teacher schools) in tribal areas and urban slums. It was within a room at the Vishwa Hindu Parishad office at Gorakhnath Mandir that he initiated arrangements to bring children from the Northeast for their education.
The CM recalled that on November 2, 1990, when the then government—hostile to the cause of Ram—ordered a lathi-charge and opened fire on devotees chanting Ramdhun, Ashok Singhal stood tall and undaunted. He would be filled with joy at the sight of saffron scarves and the spirited roar of the youth. It is a source of satisfaction that, under Ashok-ji's guidance, we participated enthusiastically in the Ram Mandir movement. His dream is now being realized in the form of the magnificent Ram Mandir.
The CM added that his Gurudev, Avaidyanath-ji Maharaj, was the president of the Ram Janmabhoomi Mukti Yagya Samiti. "I used to hold frequent meetings with Ashok Singhal ji regarding the Ram Mandir movement and its construction in Gorakhpur and Karsevakpuram. It is a privilege that we have now received the opportunity to realize Ashok ji's dream by presenting Ayodhya in the splendor of the Treta Yuga.
