Cong stalwart Kamaraj remembered

Chennai, Oct 2 (UNI) Floral tributes were paid to iconic Congress stalwart and former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister K.Kamaraj, who revolutionised education and was the architect of introducing the noon meal scheme in the schools, on his death anniversary on Friday.
Tamil Nadu Governor, Chief Minister Vijay and DMK President M.K.Stalin paid rich tributes to him and recalled his legacy and his pioneering role in revolutionising education. Ministers and officials paid tributes at his memorial in the city to mark the occasion.
In his message, the Governor said "on the death anniversary of Perunthalaivar K. Kamaraj , I pay my respectful homage to one of the towering leaders of Tamil Nadu and a true statesman of independent India."
"Perunthalaivar Kamaraj dedicated his life to the service of the people and the nation. His simplicity, integrity, humility and unwavering commitment to public welfare continue to inspire generations. His pioneering contributions to education, especially in expanding access to schooling for children from rural and underprivileged communities, remain a lasting legacy of his vision for an inclusive and progressive society", Mr Arlekar said.
"May his ideals of selfless public service and nation-building continue to guide us in our collective endeavour towards a stronger and developed India", he added.
Paying glowing tributes to Kamaraj, Vijay said he offers his tributes and salutations to Kamaraj who took Tamil Nadu to thepaid of development through his simple life and honest administration.
He said the Congress icon was instrumental in revolutionising education by opening schools in all the village, introduced the mid-day noon meal scheme, created several PSUs, dams and water irrigation projects that paved the way for indsutrial development and agricultural growth.
"Let's continue to travel on the path shown by Kamaraj who dedicated his life for selfless public service", Vijay said.
