Congress targets 100 seats in Telangana, says TPCC chief Mahesh Kumar Goud

Hyderabad, Oct 27 (UNI) Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) president Mahesh Kumar Goud on Tuesday said the Congress was targeting 100 seats in the next Assembly elections and expressed confidence that the party would return to power in the State.
Speaking to the media at the Secretariat, Goud said all pending issues would be resolved by November, after which the party would focus directly on preparations for the elections.
He claimed that Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy had given the party leadership a free hand and that coordination within the Congress was strong.
Taking a dig at BRS leaders K T Rama Rao and T Harish Rao, he alleged that they were disconnected from ground realities.
He also criticised former Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao over the State’s debt burden and dismissed the BRS leader’s remarks on El Niño, saying the weather phenomenon affected the entire country.
Goud said the Congress would benefit electorally from its welfare initiatives, including the fine-quality rice distribution and Indiramma housing schemes, free electricity and the creation of 90,000 jobs. He asserted that the party had a strong grassroots presence and that beneficiaries of its schemes would support it.
Targeting the BJP, the TPCC chief ruled out the party coming to power in Telangana in the near future.
He also predicted that the BJP would lose several of its existing Assembly and Lok Sabha seats in the State.
Goud further expressed confidence in the Congress’s prospects in Adilabad and Nizamabad, claiming that the party would secure 40 per cent of the seats in the two districts.
