Constitutional rights struggle and delimitation reforms would politically empower people: Upendra

Patna, June 8 (UNI) National President of Rashtriya Lok Morcha (RLMO) and Rajya Sabha MP Upendra Kushwaha said that his party will take the struggle for constitutional rights and delimitation reforms to every household of Bihar, so that the people can be politically empowered and get their rights.
Kushwaha told news persons here on Sunday that some vested interest forces were conspiring to weaken the struggle of his party in the name of a smaller number of seats of the RLMO in the state assembly.
He said that the delimitation would take place in 2026 in the country and maintained that the Lok Sabha seats were fixed through delimitation by the population based on the census conducted in 1951, 1961, and 1971.
Kushwaha said that the purpose of delimitation was to determine seats based on equal population across India, but the purpose has been completely defeated, and almost all the states of North India, including Bihar, were suffering in terms of Lok Sabha seats.
He said that in South India, there is one Lok Sabha seat for a population of about 21 lakhs, whereas in North India, there is one Lok Sabha seat for a population of about 31 lakhs. This system reduces the representation of all the North Indian states, including Bihar, in the Parliament.
Appealing to the people to remain prepared to fight for constitutional rights and delimitation reforms, the RLMO President said that if the Congress government had done it, Bihar would have got the benefit of at least 20 more MPs. He stressed the need for a concrete strategy for determining the seats through delimitation to be done in 2026.
