CPI-M-Congress panel wins Tripura’s district Bar Association election unopposed

Agartala, Sept 20 (UNI) The CPI-M-Congress-supported panel has achieved an uncontested victory in the election for Tripura’s Unakoti District Bar Association, as the BJP’s legal cell did not field any candidates.
The outcome represents a significant setback for the BJP’s organisation in the state, as the election process concluded without any competition for the key positions.
Despite the BJP’s efforts to strengthen its organisational presence among lawyers in the district, they were unable to submit candidates for the election, drawing attention.
The Left-Congress-supported panel jointly submitted a set of nominations for the election, and following scrutiny and withdrawal of nominations, no opposing candidates remained for the posts, resulting in the panel being elected unopposed.
In response to this development, CPI-M State Secretary, Jitendra Chaudhury, asserted that the BJP-led government is gradually losing public support and suggested that a wave of change is sweeping across the country.
He criticised the BJP government for what he characterised as attacks on democratic institutions and the rights of ordinary citizens, while alleging that despite government spending and various development initiatives, public support for the BJP was waning.
Further, he alleged that the increasing prices, unemployment, and limited job opportunities were placing greater pressure on ordinary citizens, and he added that the saffron brigade has been targeting the education and health sectors.
