Defence Secretary inaugurates Hindi library ‘GYANDEEP’ at Sena Bhawan

New Delhi, Oct 22 (UNI) Defence Secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh on Thursday inaugurated a Hindi library, ‘GYANDEEP’, at Sena Bhawan here as part of the Ministry of Defence’s Special Campaign 6, aimed at promoting the use of Hindi in official work and strengthening the implementation of the Official Language policy.
The campaign, being conducted from October 2 to 31, focuses on promoting Hindi literature, encouraging officials to use Hindi in their day-to-day work, and fostering a culture of working in Hindi across the Ministry.
As part of the cleanliness and record-management drive, the Ministry has freed up around 35,000 square feet of space in South Block by cleaning the premises and disposing of old records. The space has been handed over to the Project Yuga Yugeen Bharat Museum (YYBM).
The campaign has also resulted in the closure of 1,361 electronic files and the weeding out of 1,746 physical files. Disposal of e-waste and other obsolete items has generated revenue of Rs 4.22 lakh, according to the Ministry.
On the occasion, the Defence Secretary felicitated eight ‘Swachhta Veers’ in recognition of their contributions to the ongoing campaign.
Office maintenance, cleanliness drives and the segregation and disposal of electronic waste are also being undertaken across various Ministry of Defence establishments, including Sena Bhawan, Kartavya Bhawan-II, Vayu Bhawan and its offices on KG Marg.
The initiative forms part of the Ministry’s broader efforts to improve workplace cleanliness, optimise the use of government office space, streamline record management and promote the use of Hindi in official functioning.
