Delhi cabinet okays Industrial Policy 2026, will promote clean & high-value industries: CM

New Delhi, Oct 14 (UNI) The Delhi Government Cabinet, during its meeting chaired by Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, has given its nod to the Delhi Industrial Policy 2026, which outlines a ten-year roadmap for developing a clean, knowledge-based industrial economy in the capital, with a focus on high-value, non-polluting sectors.
It also provides for an expenditure of Rs 1,000 crore on the Mukhyamantri Udyamshree Yojana over five years, starting from Financial Year 2026-27 to FY 2030-31, with the objective of promoting new industries and generating greater employment opportunities.

Gupta has said the ambitious policy aims to position the capital as a leading hub for advanced technology, Global Capability Centres (GCCs), data centres, research and development, healthcare services, urban logistics, the circular economy and modern manufacturing.

According to CM, the policy will promote clean, high-value industries while focusing on attracting fresh investments, modernising existing industries, encouraging women entrepreneurs and expanding employment opportunities for young people.

She said that, keeping the needs of different sectors in mind, tailored incentives would be provided for capital investment, office or workspace rentals, new hiring, research, certification, technological modernisation, energy conservation and skill development.

There are going to be special incentives for 10 priority sectors including IT, Global Capacity Centres, Data Centres, Research and Development & Test Facilities, Healthcare & Wellness, Urban Logistics, Circular Economy and Waste management and others.

There are special incentives for women entrepreneurs and employees as well, with the women-led micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) to receive additional support for business modernisation and expansion.

Those hiring women employers will also receive higher incentives for each woman recruited, while women and young workforce will receive special attention under skill development initiatives.

Under the Delhi Industrial Policy 2026, Invest Delhi will function as a dedicated government agency to assist investors and promote investment, and it will serve as a single point of contact, guiding investors from initial information and suitable site selection to securing necessary approvals, the disbursal of approved incentives and the resolution of grievances.

The system, which will operate through the Delhi Udyog Mitra Portal, is designed to make approval processes faster, simpler and more transparent, while helping investors establish and operate their projects.

The policy aims to create more employment opportunities by attracting new investment, modernising existing MSMEs, redeveloping industrial areas, expanding priority industries and strengthening skill development programmes.

Chief Minister Gupta has said the policy focuses on making better use of the capital's economic potential by encouraging advanced technology, research, specialised services and high-value-added industries.
