Delhi CM flags-off Nasha Mukt Punjab Yatra from Fatehgarh

Fatehgarh Sahib/New Delhi, Sep 19 (UNI) Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta today flagged off the second phase of the Bharatiya Janata Party's 'Nasha Mukt Punjab Yatra' from the sacred land of Fatehgarh Sahib in Punjab.
Before the launch of the yatra, Delhi CM paid obeisance at Gurdwara Sri Jyoti Saroop Sahib and paid tribute to the martyrdom of the younger Sahibzadas and Mata Gujri.
Taking a dig at the AAP, she said that during 2022, promises were made to eliminate drugs within three to four months, however, today, the people are asking, whether the menace has been eliminated?
She emphasized on the need for concrete action against the problem, instead of giving one deadline after another.
Launching a sharp attack on AAP government, Gupta alleged that their failure to smash the drug network had broken the trust of Punjab's families.
She further alleged that the system under the AAP, led by Arvind Kejriwal and Bhagwant Mann, had failed to deliver results in line with the promises made to the people of Punjab.
The BJP has repeatedly raised questions over allegations of corruption and scams against the AAP government in Delhi, and the people of Punjab are now also seeking answers on governance, law and order, drugs and corruption, while AAP in the past had dismissed these allegations as 'politically motivated'.
Gupta said that Fatehgarh Sahib is a land of courage, sacrifice and martyrdom, adding that the Sahibzadas had refused to bow before oppression.
Gupta asserted that in present day too, the youth of Punjab will neither stop nor bow before the menace of drugs and the drug mafia.
"Today, Punjab has risen and raised its voice against drugs," CM said, while she also met with the families affected by the drug menace.
She said the pain of these families was not the pain of one household alone, but the suffering of society as a whole.
Gupta said that the fight against drugs is not the government's alone; it is a fight for every family, every village and society as a whole.
Protecting Punjab's youth from drugs and connecting them with opportunities in education, employment, sports and development is a collective responsibility.
Delhi CM said that the people of Punjab were not alone in the fight to free the state from drugs, and under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the central government has been continuously working to strengthen the country's fight against the problem.
She said that the yatra against drugs is not merely a political programme, but will carry a message of awareness and public participation to every household in Punjab.
"From the land of martyrdom in Fatehgarh Sahib, a resolve is being taken today to free Punjab from drugs, fear, crime and corruption and make it prosperous and happy once again," Gupta stressed.
She made an appeal to people of the state to actively participate in the campaign against drugs and unite to protect the future of their youth.
