Delhi: CM performs Kanya Pujan with family on Mahanavami, pledges to work for bright future of girls

New Delhi, Oct 19 (UNI) Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, today, performed Kanya Pujan with her family on the auspicious occasion of Mahanavami, praying for the dignity, bright future, happiness and prosperity of girls.
Describing girls as embodiments of divine power, she said that respecting, educating, protecting and empowering them is the foundation of true social progress.
Every girl should have an equal opportunity to move forward, fulfil her dreams and reach new heights through her talent, Ms Gupta said, maintaining that Kanya Pujan is not merely a religious tradition, but also an occasion to embrace a sense of respect, compassion and responsibility towards girls.
The tradition has real meaning only when every girl is respected in her family and society, receives a good education and can shape her future with confidence.
Ms Gupta said the Delhi government is committed to the education, safety and economic empowerment of girls. Its schemes aim to provide them with opportunities to advance through education, become self-reliant and play an active role in the development of society and the country.
Throwing light on the Delhi Lakhpati Bitiya Yojana, Ms Gupta said it is an important initiative to encourage girls’ education and ensure their long-term financial security.
The scheme aims to help girls continue their education, enhance their standing in their families and society, and prepare them for a self-reliant future. Through this initiative, the government is seeking to look beyond girls’ immediate needs and support their further education and future opportunities.
She also shared that her government is providing bicycles to eligible girl students under the Vidya Vahini Yojana to encourage their education.
The initiative will help them commute to and from school and make access to education easier.
Ms Gupta said that a strong, self-reliant and progressive society can be built only by ensuring that girls have equal opportunities for education, safety and advancement.
“Today’s girls will become tomorrow’s doctors, engineers, scientists, entrepreneurs, officers and citizens who lead the country,” she said, adding that, “Giving their talent the opportunity to flourish is an investment in the future of Delhi and the nation.”
