Delhi Traffic Police steps up anti-encroachment & enforcement drive across city

New Delhi, Sep 26 (UNI) Delhi Traffic Police intensified its coordinated enforcement drives across the city during the past week to ensure smooth traffic movement, pedestrian safety and better utilization of public road space.
The drives targeted illegal encroachments, unauthorized rehri-patri, improper parking and other road obstructions at major intersections, markets, busy corridors and vulnerable locations.
During the enforcement action, 975 illegal encroachments/rehri-patris were removed, 6,004 challans were issued, 138 vehicles were towed, 114 vehicles were clamped and 120 vehicles were impounded for various violations.
The sustained action resulted in restoration of road and footpath space and facilitated smoother and safer movement of vehicles and pedestrians.
Delhi Traffic Police has reiterated that unauthorized occupation of roads and footpaths, improper parking and activities obstructing traffic movement will not be permitted, adding that strict and sustained enforcement will continue in coordination with concerned agencies.
In addition to enforcement, traffic personnel also demonstrated their commitment to public safety by promptly responding to a road accident at Prerna Chowk, Keshav Puram, on Friday and the injured motorcyclist was immediately provided assistance and shifted to hospital for treatment, while traffic movement was simultaneously restored.
Meanwhile, the civic agencies are also conducting checks and taking up anti- encroachment drives to keep in check the unauthorised activities that occupy public spaces, causing inconvenience to people.
