Chennai, Oct 25 (UNI) The Depression over the Bay will intensify into a Deep Depression and it would intensify further as Deep Depression and later as Cyclonic Storm tomorrow morning and concentrate more as severe Cyclonic Storm the next day and cross the Andhra Pradesh as a 'Very Severe Cyclonic Storm' on the Wednesday (October 28), even as several parts of Tamil Nadu continued to receive rains, with Chennai city and adjoining districts experiencws heavy spells falls last night and this morning.
In its latest National bulletin issued as an Orange message by the IMD on Sunday afternoon said, the Depression over Eastcentral and adjoining Southeast Bay of Bengal remained practically stationary during the past 3 hours, and lay centered at 0830 hours of today,
over the same region, about 440 km north-northwest of Sri Vijaya Puram (Andaman Islands), 880 km east-southeast of Vishakhapatnam (Andhra Pradesh), 980 km east-southeast of Kakinada (Andhra Pradesh), 1,080 km east of Machilipatnam (Andhra Pradesh) and
1,150 km east of Bapatla (Andhra Pradesh).
It is very likely to move nearly southwards, intensify into a Deep Depression and then gradually recurve west-northwestwards over the Eastcentral and adjoining Southeast Bay of Bengal today.
It will continue to move west-northwestwards and intensify further into a Cyclonic Storm over the Eastcentral and adjoining Westcentral Bay of Bengal by tomorrow morning, and into a Severe Cyclonic Storm over westcentral Bay of Bengal around October 27 (Tuesday) morning.
Thereafter, it is very likely to move northwestwards, intensify further into a Very Severe Cyclonic Storm and reach Westcentral Bay of Bengal near Andhra Pradesh coast around the morning of October 28. Meanwhile, several districts of Tamil Nadu, including Western Ghat, Northern, Interior and Cauvery delta districts received heavy spells. The Western Ghat regions, especially the hilly Nilgiris district, ore the brunt of the Northeast Monsoon fury resulting in landslips at many places. All the tourist spots were shut in Ooty (Udhagamandalam) and tourists were advised not to visit the hill station till tomorrow.

speed to 20 kmph and avoid overtaking.

and Yercaud in view of mudslides.
Though Cuddalore and several interior districts like Tiruvannamalai, Villupuram and Kallakurichi were battered by heavy rains, Chennai city and its neighbouring districts received moderate to heavy rains last night and today morning, the showers abated in the day. However, with thick cloud cover in the horizon, the rains are likely from evening and it would increase steadily, gathering more steam by night and tomorrow morning, with very heavy spells.
According to a private weatherblogger, the heavy rains in these districts are not attributed to the Cyclonic formulation, but the entry of the system that formed over Arabian sea into inland and atmospheric moisture from the eastleries.
