Echoes of UP's development now being heard not only in country but throughout the world: Piyush Goyal

Greater Noida, Sep 27 (UNI) Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal, speaking at the fourth International Trade Show held at the India Expo Mart, said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the guidance of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Uttar Pradesh has embarked on a new journey of development.
"Today, the state's positive thinking, the confidence of entrepreneurs, and its commitment to development have become its new identity. The echoes of Uttar Pradesh's development are now being heard not only in the country but throughout the world," he claimed.
Piyush Goyal, who attended the special business session "Leveraging India's Free Trade Agreements for Global Business Growth" held on the third day of UPITS on Sunday as the chief guest, said that this event, which began on the occasion of Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay's birth anniversary, will grow larger and more effective in the coming years.
The entire world will see Uttar Pradesh's development journey as an example. The expressways built in the state, new airports, large industrial parks, and investments in modern sectors such as defence, semiconductors, and electronics present a picture of a changing Uttar Pradesh.
Goyal said that the rapidly developing robotics factory near Noida is an example of Uttar Pradesh establishing a strong presence in modern and emerging sectors.
The next step in the state's development is now being linked to international trade, exports, foreign investment, and tourism. Uttar Pradesh's local brands and products are making their mark in global markets.
He said that the target of increasing Uttar Pradesh's exports to Rs 5 lakh crore by 2030 reflects the state's growing confidence and economic potential.
Improved coordination between the central and state governments is providing the state with new development opportunities. He called upon those involved in business and industry to recognize these opportunities and actively advance Uttar Pradesh's development journey.
Sharing his experiences from 2017, the union Minister said that at that time, people were concerned about the law and order situation and business environment in Uttar Pradesh.
Entrepreneurs lacked sufficient confidence, and there was a lack of enthusiasm for setting up new large industries in the state.
Even the country's major industrial centres were reluctant to look to Uttar Pradesh for investment, while international investment was even more remote.
He said that corruption and law and order problems had created a sense of despair among both the public and business and industry.
There was talk of large-scale migration, and Uttar Pradesh was seen as a backward state. In such an environment, it was difficult to imagine investment in modern sectors like robotics, defence corridors, and semiconductors.
Goyal, referring to the process of preparing the BJP's manifesto during the 2017 assembly elections, said that party workers went from village to village and door to door across the state to gather suggestions from people.
Youth, women, and various sections of society expressed their aspirations and expectations. These suggestions were compiled and the manifesto was prepared.
He said that the public aspirations expressed at that time were vast and required significant financial resources to fulfil them. Uttar Pradesh's budget was limited, and financial resources were under pressure.
After regular obligations, including salaries for government employees, limited resources were left for development work. Nevertheless, large additional funds were estimated to be needed each year to meet public expectations.
He said that under the blessings of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Uttar Pradesh has made remarkable progress in both development and revenue collection.
Due to the government's policies and improved administration, revenue from various sources has increased manifold and is being utilised for the state's development.
Citing the example of excise revenue, he said that the state's excise revenue has increased nearly fivefold compared to 2016-17. He stated that this increase is not limited to any one sector, but rather reflects improvements across various revenue sources.
He noted that while the land remains the same, there has been a significant change in revenue from land transfers, registration fees, and stamp duty.
Referring to the mining sector, the union Minister said that in 2016-17, the state's mining revenue from sand, gravel, stone, and other minerals was approximately Rs 1,548 crore. Today, revenue from this sector has increased manifold.
He stated that this change in revenue collection reflects the government's improved management and effective use of resources. He stated that the impact of increased revenue is clearly visible in the state's development journey.
Improved revenue collection has provided the government with more resources for roads, expressways, airports, industrial development, and other development and public welfare initiatives.
Piyush Goyal stated that while the state previously faced financial pressure and revenue deficits, today the Uttar Pradesh government is in a position to present a surplus budget. This is also important in reducing the burden of unnecessary debt on current and future generations.
The union Minister stated that the Uttar Pradesh International Trade Show is not just a trade fair, but an important platform for connecting the state's trade and industry to the global market.
Through this, entrepreneurs from the state are getting new opportunities to access global markets and take advantage of free trade agreements signed with India.
He stated that through trade agreements, various global markets are opening up to Indian products. Uttar Pradesh entrepreneurs can leverage these opportunities to showcase their products, services, and local specialities to the global market.
Today, Uttar Pradesh is emerging as a major destination for investment.
Due to improved industrial policies and a favourable investment environment, large companies are being attracted to the state. Investors and business delegations from various sectors are regularly visiting Uttar Pradesh, generating new investment and employment opportunities.
He stated that the state's youth are developing skills and expertise relevant to the needs of industry. International programs and business events are regularly held in Uttar Pradesh, providing entrepreneurs with opportunities to connect directly with the global market.
He urged entrepreneurs to enhance quality, innovation, and competitiveness in line with global market demands. He stated that many global markets have opened up to India through free trade agreements, and that talented entrepreneurs from Uttar Pradesh should take full advantage of these opportunities.
