Elderly woman crushed to death by tractor in Bhiwani village; fourth accused arrested

Bhiwani, Oct 25 (UNI) Police have arrested a woman in connection with the killing of an elderly woman who was allegedly run over by a tractor in a field in Haryana's Bhiwani district last month, taking the number of arrests in the case to four, officials said on Sunday.

The accused, identified as Meena Devi, wife of Rajkumar and a resident of Dhanana village, was arrested on October 24 for her alleged involvement in the September 25 incident that left elderly Pyari Devi dead and another person injured.
According to police, the incident occurred in a field at Dhanana village, where a tractor was allegedly driven over the victims. Pyari Devi died on the spot, while another person sustained injuries. Following the incident, teams from Sadar Bhiwani police station, the Crime
Investigation Agency (CIA) and the Scene of Crime unit inspected the site and collected
evidence.
A criminal case was registered on the complaint of Sonu, a resident of Dhanana village.
Police said a team led by Sadar Bhiwani Station House Officer Inspector Mahabir Singh arrested Meena Devi on October 24 after further investigation into the incident.
Investigators said the arrested woman was present at the scene and allegedly participated in the assault that accompanied the incident.
Police have not alleged that Meena Devi herself drove the tractor over the victims. Her precise role in the killing remains under investigation. Three other accused had already been arrested in the
case before her apprehension.
Bhiwani Superintendent of Police Mayank Mishra has directed investigating teams to identify and take legal action against all those involved in serious crimes, including murder.
Police said the investigation was continuing to establish the roles of other suspected participants and reconstruct the circumstances surrounding the fatal incident.
