Farmers need not worry, Govt will provide all possible assistance: Minister Dattatray Bharne

Nashik, Sep 24 (UNI) Agriculture Minister Dattatray Bharne on Thursday inspected crop damage at Dhondveer Nagar in Sinnar taluka and interacted with farmers to assess the situation arising from erratic rainfall and prolonged dry spells. Bharne reviewed the damage caused to standing crops and heard farmers about their difficulties.
He assured them that the state government stood firmly behind them during the crisis and would extend all possible assistance to affected farmers.
MLA Adv Manikrao Kokate, Agriculture Commissioner Suraj Mandhare, District Superintendent Agriculture Officer Ravindra Mane, agriculture department officials, public representatives and farmers were present during the visit.
Bharne said the impact of El Niño, changing weather patterns and irregular rainfall had created natural challenges for farmers in several parts of the state.
The government was aware of their difficulties and action was being taken to ensure timely assistance to affected farmers, he said.
The minister said the Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Ministers had also visited various affected areas and interacted with farmers.
The process of issuing the necessary notification for assisting affected farmers would be completed by Saturday, he said.
He also directed officials to complete crop damage assessments, including panchnamas, and other necessary procedures on an urgent basis.
"Officials must reach the farmers' doorsteps and understand their difficulties," Bharne said, directing the administration to ensure that no eligible farmer was left out while extending benefits under various government schemes.
He said farmers were at the centre of the government's assistance process and that efforts were being made to provide maximum support to those affected by the natural crisis.
Bharne also directed that farmers should not face any obstruction at the banking level while accessing government schemes.
He warned that action would be taken as per rules against banks that created hurdles in providing benefits to eligible farmers.
The minister said eligible farmers were being provided benefits under various government schemes, including the Punyashlok Ahilyadevi Holkar Farmers' Loan Waiver Scheme.
He added that the process of providing compensation and other assistance to farmers affected by the natural calamity was being expedited. UNI BHG SAS
