Foxconn’s Devanahalli unit set for June iPhone rollout

Bengaluru, May 17 (UNI) In a significant boost to Karnataka’s industrial and economic landscape, Foxconn’s manufacturing unit at the Devanahalli Information Technology Investment Region (ITIR) is nearing completion, with commercial shipments of iPhones expected to commence as early as June.
The development signals more than just the operational readiness of a facility — it reflects a strategic pivot in global supply chains. With rising geopolitical and tariff headwinds, India is emerging as Apple Inc’s preferred production hub.
Confirming the shift, Apple CEO Tim Cook stated that a majority of iPhones sold in the United States during the June quarter would be manufactured in India. The Devanahalli unit is expected to play a pivotal role in this transition.
"This is a proud moment for Karnataka," Karnataka Industries Minister MB Patil said. "Our state is now firmly on the global manufacturing map, and we are witnessing growing interest from foreign investors."
Patil underscored that stakeholder interests, including land acquisition, labour compliance, and environmental clearances, were addressed with due diligence, paving the way for sustainable industrial growth.
The ITIR, located close to the Kempegowda International Airport, is poised to become a high-tech manufacturing corridor, with Foxconn’s entry seen as a catalyst for allied industries and employment generation. UNI BDN GNK
