Free child care training programme for women launched in Visakhapatnam

Visakhapatnam, Nov 2 (UNI) A free 360-hour Child Care Taker Training Programme aimed at equipping women with employable skills and promoting economic self-reliance was launched by the Sri Sathya Sai Seva Organisations in Visakhapatnam on Monday.
The programme is being conducted by the organisation's Visakhapatnam district unit in association with the Andhra Pradesh State Skill Development Corporation (APSSDC) at the Sri Sathya Sai Mahila Skill Development Centre, Yendada.
Inaugurating the programme, Sri Sathya Sai Seva Organisations Andhra Pradesh State President R Lakshmana Rao said the initiative was the first of its kind in India to be launched by the organisation in collaboration with APSSDC.
He urged the trainees to make effective use of the opportunity and acquire skills that would help them contribute to their families and society.
The organisation would continue to undertake skill development initiatives to provide employment opportunities and promote confidence and self-reliance among economically disadvantaged women, he said.
The 360-hour course is open to women aged between 19 and 40 years and will provide training in caring for children in the two-to-six-year age group.
Successful trainees will receive government-certified certificates, enabling them to seek employment in baby care centres, hospitals, kindergartens, day-care centres and home-based child care services.
Yuvatha Reddy will provide specialised training to the participants.
The programme is particularly intended to benefit unemployed women, homemakers and those seeking livelihood opportunities.
Deputy Commissioner of Labour K Dinesh Kumar, District Skill Development Officer N Govindarao, Dr M Madhavi, a specialist in geriatric medicine, and paediatrician Dr Rajani Mukherjee were among those who attended the inaugural programme.
They appreciated the organisation's efforts and said trained child care professionals were in demand, creating livelihood opportunities for women.
On the occasion, Lakshmana Rao and Kamala Triveni released the 'Bala Sevika and Education in Human Values (EHV) Handbook', which highlights the importance of providing children with a safe, healthy and loving environment and nurturing them with human values.
Lakshmana Rao also appreciated the contributions of Dr C H Padmavathi, Assistant Professor in Community Medicine at Gayatri Medical College, and Bal Vikas Guru B Sridevi in preparing the handbook.
Earlier, Lakshmana Rao and Kamala Triveni planted medicinal saplings at the centre as part of the organisation's 'Prema Tharu' national tree plantation initiative.
The programme was attended by district and State-level coordinators and office-bearers of the Sri Sathya Sai Seva Organisations, along with Samithi and Bhajan Mandali convenors and devotees.
