Kakinada civic body launches special drive to clear rainwater stagnation

Kakinada, Nov 2 (UNI) The Kakinada Municipal Corporation has launched a special drive to clear rainwater stagnation and prevent inundation in low-lying areas of the city in view of the prevailing weather conditions and impending Murasu cyclone.
Municipal Commissioner NVV Satyanarayana on Monday inspected drainage and waterlogging conditions in Dummulapeta, Yetimoga and Mahalakshmi Nagar areas as part of his field visit.
He also inspected the main drainage channels and outfall points along NFCL Road to ensure the unhindered flow of rainwater.
Later, he visited Sanjay Nagar and BSNL areas to review the drainage situation.
Noticing water stagnation and overflowing water on roads in Mahalakshmi Nagar, the Commissioner directed sanitation staff to clear the accumulated water, deploying oil engines wherever necessary.
At Gandhi Park, he inspected the site where an old, large tree had been uprooted and instructed horticulture staff to expedite its removal and clear the road.
The Commissioner advised residents to avoid venturing out unnecessarily in view of the rapidly changing weather conditions associated with the impending cyclone.
Municipal Corporation Health Officer Dr Prudhwicharan, Horticulture Assistant Director Srinivas Rao and Sanitation Supervisor Rambabu accompanied him during the inspection.

Cyclone Murasu likely to reach AP coast as severe storm with high wind speeds
