Gadkari mourns the death of Nana Patekar, calls it huge loss to Indian Cinema

Nagpur, Oct 8 (UNI) union Road Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari, on Thursday, expressed deep grief over the demise of veteran actor Nana Patekar, describing his death as a great loss to Indian cinema and recalling their close personal association.
In a post on X, Gadkari said the news of Patekar's demise was “extremely shocking and heartbreaking” and offered his heartfelt tributes to the acclaimed actor, who passed away at the age of 75.
Nana and I shared a very close and friendly relationship. Through his powerful acting, Nana Patekar ruled the hearts of audiences for more than five decades through Marathi and Hindi cinema. His distinctive dialogue delivery immortalised many characters and created a unique identity for him,” Gadkari said.
He said Patekar’s passing was a major loss to the Indian film industry and lauded his contribution to social causes through the Naam Foundation.

Gadkari noted that Patekar’s work in water conservation and watershed management in rural Maharashtra was remarkable and significant.
He also highlighted the actor’s efforts to support families of farmers who died by suicide, saying his helping hand had become a source of strength for many families.
“Nana was not only an outstanding actor but also a personality deeply sensitive to society. May God grant peace to the departed soul. Om Shanti,” Gadkari added.
Patekar, one of the most celebrated actors in Marathi and Hindi cinema, died following a cardiac arrest at his residence in Goa on Thursday morning, according to media reports.
