GHMC engineer caught accepting Rs 1.2 lakh bribe in Hyderabad

Hyderabad, June 17 (UNI) The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Tuesday caught an Assistant Executive Engineer (AEE) of the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) red-handed while accepting a bribe of Rs 1.2 lakh.

According to an official statement, B. Swaroopa, AEE of the Kapra Circle-1 office, was caught by the ACB Ranga Reddy Unit this afternoon while receiving the bribe from a complainant.

The bribe was allegedly demanded in exchange for showing official favour — specifically, for writing Measurement Book (MB) entries for work completed by the complainant.
The ACB stated that the accused officer had acted dishonestly and failed to perform her public duty in a proper manner. The bribe amount was recovered from her possession at the time of the operation.

Swaroopa was being arrested and produced before the First Additional Special Judge for SPE and ACB Cases at Nampally, Hyderabad.
