Gov asks Odisha universities to complete faculty recruitment by November-end

Bhubaneswar, Oct 3 (UNI) Odisha Governor and Chancellor of state public universities Hari Babu Kambhampati on Saturday set a November-end deadline for filling vacant teaching posts in universities, directing vice-chancellors to launch the recruitment process by the first week of the month.
At a meeting on faculty recruitment, Kambhampati said filling teaching vacancies was the next major challenge after the appointment of vice-chancellors in the state’s public universities.
He directed the vice-chancellors to adhere to a clear timeline and complete the recruitment process by the end of November, stressing that merit and quality should not be compromised in faculty selection.
The Governor also suggested that all eligible applicants be called for interviews instead of extensive shortlisting at the initial stage.
This, he said, would ensure that no eligible candidate was excluded and give selection panels a wider pool of candidates.
Kambhampati also urged universities to pursue green certification, adopt solar power on their campuses and explore the Renewable Energy Service Company (RESCO) model.
Citing the platinum certification awarded to Lok Bhavan by the Indian Green Building Council, he said universities could also seek such certification by building on their existing green cover.
He further sought details of accreditation initiatives being undertaken by universities and suggested a uniform tenure for vice-chancellors across state public universities.
Higher Education Minister Suryabanshi Suraj backed the Governor’s suggestions and asked vice-chancellors to set and adhere to timelines for faculty recruitment. UNI MK SAS
