Gurugram Police crack down on garbage being brought from Delhi, 10 arrested

Gurugram, Oct 4 (UNI) Gurugram Police has launched a major crackdown on the illegal transportation and dumping of garbage and plastic waste allegedly being brought from Delhi into Gurugram, arresting 10 persons and registering four cases in the operation.
Acting on the directions of the Commissioner of Police, Gurugram, and under the supervision of the Deputy Commissioner of Police (West), police teams conducted checks and naka-bandi at different locations to curb the illegal movement and dumping of waste.
The action resulted in the registration of two cases at Bajghera police station and one each at Udyog Vihar and Rajendra Park police stations.
During the investigation, police arrested 10 accused and recovered seven vehicles allegedly used in the offences, including canters and tractor-trolleys.
According to the police investigation, the accused were transporting garbage and plastic waste from Delhi to Gurugram for illegal dumping.
Preliminary interrogation has also indicated the involvement of a wider network connected with the transportation and handling of the waste.
Police said the garbage brought into Gurugram was allegedly subjected to segregation, with plastic waste being separated and subsequently transported to other locations.
Gurugram Police is now investigating the entire network, including the persons allegedly involved in transporting, dumping, segregating and further moving the waste.
The role of vehicle owners and transporters is also being examined.
Police said that if any vehicle owner or transporter is found to have knowingly facilitated the illegal transportation or dumping of waste, action will be taken against them in accordance with law.
The police investigation is continuing to identify other persons associated with the network and establish the complete chain involved in the illegal movement and disposal of garbage and plastic waste.
Gurugram Police said enforcement against activities posing a threat to the environment will continue and strict legal action will be taken against those involved in illegally bringing and dumping waste in Gurugram.
