Gurugram, Oct 8 (UNI) The Haryana government on Thursday set a November 7 deadline for upgrading 100 roads in Gurugram and directed civic agencies to resolve complaints involving potholes, sewage overflow, garbage accumulation and dysfunctional streetlights within 24 to 72 hours, depending on their nature.
Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini's Chief Principal Secretary Rajesh Khullar issued the directions at a high-level meeting, launching a 30-day drive to improve road infrastructure, sanitation and essential civic amenities in the city.
Under the initiative, the identified roads will undergo recarpeting, pavement improvements, lane marking, footpath repairs, streetlight restoration, installation of signage and beautification.
Authorities have also been directed to remove encroachments and garbage from these stretches.
The government has proposed developing 10 iconic roads with improved civic infrastructure, cleanliness and pedestrian facilities.
To ensure accountability, the administration will publish weekly performance scorecards every Saturday, detailing progress on the works and monitoring compliance with the prescribed deadlines.
The initiative also includes a community participation programme, 'Hamara 500 Metre Area', under which residents' welfare associations, schools, market associations and other institutions will be encouraged to maintain cleanliness and improve public spaces within a 500-metre radius.
Senior officials from the Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA), Municipal Corporation of Gurugram (MCG), Urban Local Bodies Department and Haryana Shahari Vikas Pradhikaran (HSVP) attended the meeting.
They include GMDA Chief Executive Officer P.C. Meena, Urban Local Bodies Commissioner and Secretary Ashok Kumar Meena, MCG Commissioner Pradeep Dahiya, HSVP Administrator Vaishali Singh and Additional Municipal Commissioner Ankita Chaudhary.
